On Thursday, 05.06.2025 we welcome Dr. Steffen Roehn in Audimax (B4.1), 14:15 - 15:45. Dr. Roehn will give a guest lecture on "Information management at AI speed - how does it work?"

Abstract:

Traditional information management is based on the paradigm “IT follows business requirements”. Therefore, processes that manage the translation of business requirements into information systems in the best possible way play a central role. This will have to change fundamentally in order to use AI to create value. Technology is increasingly becoming the “content of the business”, which is why it is necessary to merge the disciplines of business and technology strategy.

AI has dramatically shortened the already accelerating usage and adaptation cycle for new technologies. Where previously years were available for the introduction of new technologies, it is now a matter of months and weeks. The arsenal of “legacy systems” available in all companies, on which today's business depends, further intensifies the pressure to adapt.

This presentation in the bachelor's lecture Information Management highlights the practical aspects of implementing AI in companies and is fed by current experiences, surveys and concepts of the management consultancy Bain & Company with its customers.

CV:

Dr. Steffen Roehn is an Expert Partner in the TMT practice based in Bain & Company’s Frankfurt office. He has over 20 years of consulting and 17 years of chief information officer experience and is an expert in IT, digital and telecommunications, technology, Data&AI.

From 2014 to 2020, Steffen was advisor to the chairman of Reliance Industries Group (Mumbai, India) where he helped to launch and grow a pan-Indian 4G and FTTx operator from scratch: Reliance Jio is the largest mobile data network in the world, has quickly achieved sustainable market leadership in India and has pushed India to number one in terms of mobile data usage worldwide. He also serves as supervisory and advisory board member of various technology and startup companies.

Steffen joined the Deutsche Telekom Group in November 2000 as Board Member IT at T- Mobile Germany and became Global CIO of T-Mobile in 2006 and Group-CIO of Deutsche Telekom in 2009. He served as member of the board of directors of the TM Forum during his time at Deutsche Telekom and rejoined the board in January 2018 for Reliance Jio.

Prior to Deutsche Telekom, Steffen successfully advised telecommunications, high-tech, financial services and consumer goods industry companies as CEO of the Diebold Management Consulting Group and Principal of the global firm Gemini Consulting. He has a Ph.D. in physics from University of Mainz, based upon research done at the European Research Lab CERN in Geneva.

Steffen supports Nandri Kinderhilfe e.V. as his personal social responsibility. www.nandrikinderhilfe.de supports 500 poor children and families in rural India through education, food and care.
