Research

The Chair of Business Informatics at Saarland University and the research department Smart Service Engineering at DFKI investigate how artificial intelligence technologies can be used for adaptive service designs and innovative business solutions. In collaboration with research and industrial partners, results are applied in domains such as industrial manufacturing, crisis management, healthcare, wellness, and sports, among others.

Our research projects encompass both foundational and applied research in artificial intelligence, data science, machine learning, and information systems. Collaborating with esteemed research institutions and industrial partners, we address complex challenges and pioneer innovative solutions.

Funding for our initiatives comes from prominent organizations such as the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the European Union, and industry stakeholders.
