SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Prof. Dr. -Ing. Wolfgang Maaß holds the Chair of Information Systems for the Service Industry at Saarland University. Previously, Wolfgang Maaß led the research department ‘Smart Products’ at the Institute for Technology Management (ITEM) at the University of St. Gallen (HSG), Switzerland. He was a private lecturer at the University of St. Gallen and professor for media informatics at Furtwangen University (HFU). There he led the research department ‘Intelligent Media’ (RCIM). In addition to his research activities, he worked as a consultant for Diebold Management Consulting, was managing director of a start-up company for several years and is actively involved as a co-founder of spin-offs. His research area is Information Systems, which includes Ubiquitous Information Systems (UIS) with a focus on Smart Products, the Internet of Things, Intelligent Information Systems, Conceptual Modeling, Electronic Knowledge Markets, and Paid Content.
RESEARCH AREAS AND FOCUS
Professor Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Maaß is a renowned researcher in the field of information systems with expertise in data science, service design, design science, recommendation systems and dialog systems. He has technical expertise in artificial intelligence and quantum computing. Professor Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Maaß’ research focuses on the application of these skills in various application areas, including Industry 4.0, healthcare, and sports. His work aims to gain insights from data, optimize processes and create innovative solutions at the interface of technology and society.
